OW! Was the last thing John remembered hearing. He wasnt sure what he was doing because he had amnesia. Pocahontas knows the story. Here it is:

She and Thomas went and tried everything. The prison hut, Grandmother Willow where Kocoum had been killed, the rock where he had been shot and almost killed. Nothing came back to John. Not at all. Not even Jamestown brought back any memories. This was bad.

Come on, John, youve got to remember! Thomas said.

Sorry, but I dont. John said. Finally, Thomas and Pocahontas gave up for the day.

Pocahontas! Thomas said, waving a book in the air the next morning.

What is it? She asked.

I read in this book last night that the reverse for amnesia is the reoccurrence of the injury that caused it! You said John hit his head? He said frantically.

Again, they tried everything to get Johns memory back to him. They hit him in the head with everything and anything. Nothing worked. Not the little stick at least.

Why did you just hit me in the head? John asked.

Wait! Maybe we need to hit him in the head with a rock! He hit his head on a rock! Pocahontas said. Thomas agreed. They took him to the rock that he had hit his head on. John once again slipped and hit his head on the rock and the last thing he remembered was hearing OW.

Thats why my head hurts. John said. He wasnt sure how he had gotten amnesia, but he didnt want to get it again! He was glad he had amnesia to amnesia!
